If job seekers need to train for a new career, scholarships may be available through the Capital Area NCWorks Career Center. The training job seekers receive could be provided through community colleges or schools that specialize in certain industries like Information Technology, Healthcare, Advanced Manufacturing, and Skilled Trades/Construction.
Job seekers must meet the following criteria plus certain conditions to be considered for a scholarship at a Capital Area NCWorks Career Center in Wake, Johnston, Lee, Chatham, and Orange Counties:
- 18 years or older
- Authorized to work in United States
- Selective Service compliant
- Wake, Johnston, Lee, Chatham, or Orange County resident
In addition, job seekers may be asked to provide some basic information and documents. Examples of these documents may include the following:
- North Carolina Driver’s License or Federal, State or local Government ID Card
- Signed social security card
- Family income
- Other items specific to your circumstances
Everyone may not meet the criteria for a scholarship. However, we will direct you to additional resources and provide other services.
Scholarship applications can be emailed to job seekers or picked up at a Capital Area NCWorks Career Center in Wake, Johnston, Lee, Chatham, and Orange County. Keep in mind that it may take up to 30 days to approve or deny a scholarship application.
