Job rights for National Guard and Reserve members being called up for active duty are outlined in the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). If a veteran is called to Active Duty while serving in the National Guard or Reserves and upon return are told that they no longer have a job at their workplace, they can find information about USERRA at Title 38, U.S. Code/sections 4301 to 4333.

For assistance filing Compensation Claims contact your county’s trained and certified Veteran Service Officers (VSO) who typically provide these services. Every county should have a trained VSO. Compensation Claims are when qualified veterans initiate the process to claim compensation for various Service Connected Injuries (injuries that happened while serving on Active Duty) or any other type of incidents involving the veteran that may be considered as a disability that warrants the veteran being compensated.
Educational benefits for veterans -- every Community College has a Veteran’s Service Officer (VSO) on the Campus who is responsible for assisting qualified veterans with information concerning education, training/retraining and the usage of their G.I. Bill money. These are just a few of the services that are available to our veterans.
